CRMC appoints new centre director

Coventry Refugee & Migrant Centre is delighted to announce the appointment of Toni Soni as its new Acting Centre Director.

Toni was working as head of operations at CRMC, helping to oversee its numerous frontline services, classes and backroom functions.

He said: “This is an exciting and challenging time for the organisation, and I look forward to working with staff, volunteers, board members and partner agencies, to ensure we are providing a quality, innovative and value for money service.”

He previously worked as a senior manager for a high performing local authority and has experience of overseeing a number of services for vulnerable people.

Tim Godwin, Chair of the Board at CRMC said: “As an organisation we continue to face new challenges and opportunities, not least our impending move to our new home at Norton House.

“To ensure we have consistent and stable leadership at this time, I am pleased to announce that our Head of Operations, Toni Soni, has been appointed as our Acting Centre Director.

“Toni is an experienced manager and valued member of the leadership team, who has a clear understanding of the work we do and the many challenges that we face.

“He and I share a vision for the development of CRMC, which will increase our focus on developing our staff and improving our infrastructure so that we can continue to provide an excellent service to our clients.”

Toni replaces the previous Centre Director Sabir Zazai, who announced his departure last month. There will a ‘Thank You Coventry’ dinner held on Wednesday 30th August as the charity says a fond farewell to Sabir.

Popular local BBC TV and radio presenter Trish Adudu will be the host, introducing live music from Syrian and Afghan artists, alongside an amazing line up of speakers including the Bishop of Coventry, The Right Reverend Dr Christopher Cocksworth, and world renowned Professor Mike Hardy from Coventry University. A buffet of world food will also be on offer.

Of course, Sabir Zazai will also be giving a farewell speech and tickets are still available here.

The evening is on Wednesday 30th August at St Peter’s Centre, Charles Street, Coventry, CV1 5NP. It starts at 1900.

Toni begins his new role with immediate effect.
