Charity is open for business after completing phase 1 of The Big Move

CRMC moves to a new location in Hillfields

Coventry Refugee & Migrant Centre is delighted to announce that it has completed phase one of ‘The Big Move’ to Norton House in Hillfields.

The centre is no longer based at Bishop Street. The new address for all frontline services and correspondence is Norton House, Bird Street, Hillfields, Coventry, CV1 5FX. Telephone numbers and email addresses remain the same.

Toni Soni, Action Centre director at CRMC said: “While we are delighted to be at Norton House, there is still much structural work that needs to be completed so that we continue to deliver a high quality service for our clients, at a time when demands for these are increasing.

“While all our frontline services have resumed back to normal business hours, these are just the first small steps in ensuring we can continue to support refugees and migrants in the city for many years to come.”

The decision to move is part of a long term strategy that will help secure the future of CRMC, by providing the charity with stable accommodation and moving it closer to its client group.

Toni said: “Our vision is to provide a centre that not only continues delivering these important services for the vulnerable in our great city, but also to create an exhibition space and community hall for the general public to share.

“Here we will be able to promote integration and community cohesion, and celebrate and continue our city’s proud history of welcome, peace and reconciliation dating back to the Second World War.

Despite the move to Norton House, CRMC still has plenty of work to do to ensure it continues to offer its frontline services and achieves its long term aims.

Toni said: “Some investment has already been obtained to begin accomplishing this, and to turn Norton House from a dilapidated, run down building, into a place of hope for refugees that the entire city can be proud of.

“As a charity we’ve found it extremely difficult to secure all the financial means by which to do this, and that’s why we’ve launched a fundraising campaign in aid of ‘The Big Move.’”

“Any support you offer to achieve this would be greatly appreciated, and we welcome you to join us in this new exciting chapter of our history
